Subsidised Qualifications for Employees of SMEs and Voluntary Organisations

Neath Port Talbot College is now delivering training through its participation in the Skills for Industry project. The training aims to provide development to support productivity, progression and raise skills levels in employment. Participants will gain nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 2 & 3 in Business Administration, Retail, Customer Service, Health and Social Care, Motor Vehicle and Engineering.  The Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care is also available under this project. Qualifications are gained through work-based learning other than where there is a specific requirement for specialist College based resources.

Skills for Industry

The Skills for Industry project is part-funded by the European Social Fund and is aimed at businesses located in South West Wales that are interested in developing the skills of their employees. Private sector companies including SMEs and voluntary organisations can benefit from this project until December 2015. The project provides funded training with flexible delivery and assessment that will develop staff skills levels to meet employers’ needs.

Delivery and Assessment of Qualifications

Neath Port Talbot College will provide qualifications in the workplace; this will be on a flexible basis as agreed with the employer and participant. Assessor support will be provided in addition to the use of online support materials.

Assessments will be predominantly work-based, using a range of methods as agreed by the employer and participant.  These could include observation, College-marked assignments, case studies, oral/written questions, product of participants’ work, professional discussion, online assessment, witness testimony and simulation where permitted.  Participants may have to visit the College where there may be a specific requirement for specialist College based resources.

Cost

A small financial contribution to cover registration and certification costs will be required from the employer.
