Shop Front Improvements for Neath's Green Street

Shop fronts in Neath's Green Street will be receiving some much needed enhancements this month, as Neath Port Talbot Council's regeneration plans continue to breathe new life into the town centre.

Leader of the Council, Councillor A.H. Thomas

Shop front improvements will be carried out on four properties in the heart of Neath's main shopping area. The work on Green Street includes the replacement and upgrading of the existing shop fronts of properties 5, 7, 9 and 11, along with the installation of traditional sliding sash windows and rendering work.

Two of the properties are currently occupied and it is hoped that the improvement work will attract tenants to the combined unoccupied unit, helping to create employment opportunities in the town.

Council Leader, Ali Thomas, welcomed the good news. He said, "Commercial property grants aim to revitalise the appearance of our shop fronts, and we hope that modern premises will help to attract more investment into the county borough.

"The image of the town centre is important for shopper confidence and these enhancements benefit our businesses, residents and visitors to the town."

Part funded by European support through the Welsh Government, the Commercial Property Grant scheme was launched in 2006 to help modernise shop fronts, making shopping areas more attractive to shoppers and businesses.

The Council is encouraging anyone interested in improving the external appearance of their business premises to contact the Property and Regeneration team on 01639 686413 to find out about the availability of grant funding.
