Businesses Learn about European Funding Opportunities for 2014 - 2020
Businesses from Neath Port Talbot have attended a Regeneration and European Funding Breakfast Event to find out how European funds has helped regenerate the area.
At an event hosted by the Authority’s European and Business Development Teams, over 60 businesses attended including building contractors, training providers and engineering firms. Many of the businesses which attended the event showed an interest in being part of a focus group that will help shape future plans for the new round of European Funding for the period 2014 – 2020.
Speakers at the business breakfast included the Authority’s Head of Property and Regeneration Gareth Nutt, who highlighted how projects such as Harbour Way have regenerated the County Borough. Robert Halford, Head of Planning and Strategy at the Wales European Funding Office outlined Welsh Government’s priorities for future European funds in Wales which included support for small and medium enterprises, renewable energy, research and innovation, helping people into work and education and skills.
Council Leader Ali Thomas said“We are keen to engage with the private sector to maximise the opportunity for businesses through European funding investment. I believe that it is important for the future round of European Funding programme 2014-2020 to leave a lasting legacy which businesses can utilise for the long term future of the economy”.
