Building Awards

Neath Port Talbot Builders through to Regional Awards Finals

The very best of Neath Port Talbot’s construction industry gathered together recently for the annual building control awards ceremony. The category winners will now go forward to represent the county borough at the South Wales Regional Finals of the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards in April.

The event celebrates excellence, with Building Control surveyors nominating individuals and teams who have excelled in the last twelve months. Categories ranged from domestic alterations and extensions to large commercial developments.

Amongst this year’s winners were Paul James Building Contractor (Best Local Builder), Dawnus Construction (Ysgol Awel y Môr) and Andrew Scott Ltd (Croeserw Community Centre).

Leader of the council, Cllr Ali Thomas presented the awards. He said:

“Events such as this are important as they recognise and showcase superior design and workmanship and this undoubtedly helps to raise standards in the construction industry. I was delighted that the event was so well supported again this year.

“The standard of entry for these awards is always high. I would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated as this in itself is a great achievement and testament to the quality of their work. I would also like to offer my best wishes to the winners when they represent Neath Port Talbot in the Welsh regional finals.”

Paul Davis, Building Control Manager at Neath Port Talbot added:

“The construction industry does not always attract positive media coverage, so it is pleasing to see our industry in Neath Port Talbot come together to celebrate excellence achieved in the last year. These awards are for everyone, with nominations ranging from local builders through to national contractors.”

The event, held at The Towers Hotel and Spa, was hosted by local celebrity Kevin Johns and sponsored by local companies Greenbuild Consult, Vale Consultancy, Solar Plants and Nolan Windows.
