NPT Corporate Improvement Plan

Neath Port Talbot Corporate Improvement Plan 2014-2017, Consultation on proposed activities for 2014-2015

The Council has a legal duty to consult on the improvement priorities (referred to as our improvement objectives) contained in the Corporate Improvement Plan (CIP) each year as per the Local Government (Wales) Measure 2009.

We therefore now set out the actions we intend to take in the next twelve months to progress the six improvement objectives that were established by the political administration elected in May 2012.  We have made good progress in the first twelve months and intend to introduce a sharper focus in the next twelve months, taking account of the very challenging financial context within which we need to work.

Our six improvement objectives are:

1.  Improve outcomes for children in need and children looked after by improving the performance of the Council's Children and Young People Services Department.

2.  Raise the educational standards and attainment for all young people.

3.  Maximise the number of adults who are able to live independently, with or without support within the home of their choice within their community.

4.  Support and invest in our town centres and communities to promote economic growth, regeneration and sustainability to maximise job opportunities and improve access to employment.

5.  Increase the percentage of waste recycled and composted.

6.  Improve customer/citizen access to services and functions provided by the Council, or on behalf of the Council and to improve the efficiency of those services and functions.

About the Consultation: We are consulting on the activities proposed to deliver each of the improvement objectives in 2014-2015.  We would like you to tell us if these are clear and if you believe they will help us to achieve our improvement objectives by completing the following questionnaire on our consultation portal (called Draft 2014-2017 Corporate Improvement Plan Improvement Objectives):

Consultation Period: The consultation will end on Thursday 20th March.

Next Steps: We will consider all the comments we receive, and, where appropriate amend the plan accordingly.
