Swansea Bay Tourism 2014


Neath Port Talbot tourism businesses had a very successful night at the Swansea Bay Tourism Awards Ceremony held recently at the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea.

Seventeen businesses representing all areas of the County Borough were shortlisted in 13 of the 16 award categories showing the breadth that the tourism sector has to offer. With businesses nominated from across Swansea Bay, six local businesses were winners in their category and a further eight businesses were highly commended.

The winners were:

  • Afan Lodge - Best Small Hotel or Restaurant with Rooms
  • Hafod Grange B&B - Best Guest House or B&B
  • Cwmshon Cottages - Best Self-catering Accommodation
  • New Swan Hotel - Best Pub or Bar
  • Cognation Mountain Bike Trails - Best Activity
  • Aberdulais Tinworks and Waterfall - Best Attraction

Cwmshon Cottages at Ynsymeudwy was the winner for the second time in a row.

Those highly commended were:

  • Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel - Best Large Hotel
  • Towers Hotel and Spa - Best Large hotel
  • The Barn B&B - Best Guest House or B&B
  • New Swan Hotel - Best Pub Grub
  • Forty Six - Best Café
  • Afan Tavern - Best Pub or Bar
  • The Towers Hotel and Spa - Best Wedding Experience
  • Cwmshon Cottages - Best Visitor Experience

Our other finalists were The Castle Hotel, Glyncorrwg Ponds, Afan Tavern, Go ape, South Wales Miners Museum and Neath Food & Drink Festival.

Another local business involved in the ceremony was Buffoon Film and Media which filmed the event and took photographs of the night.
