Magor Designs sees growth on all sides

Resolven based engineering and automation business Magor Designs Limited has today announced three key developments – an order book that will breach £1 million, expansion into an additional 10,000 square foot of manufacturing space and the integration of the core team from another well known local engineering business.

Ewan McConnell, managing director of Magor Designs Limited, explains, “It’s been an exceptionally busy start to 2015 at Magor, unprecedented in fact. Following additional demand from existing clients and newly commissioned projects from both new & existing clients alike our order book has exceeded £1 million, both the Welsh manufacturing sector and UK Automotive industry seem extremely positive.

We have also expanded our operational base at Resolven by taking an additional 10,000 sq feet of manufacturing space.  The new building, which is on a neighbouring site, will enable us to expand our engineering and automation capabilities, specifically in the design and production of robotic cells.  This firmly establishes our commitment to the Neath valley.  It’s a very exciting time here at Resolven.”

As part of Magor’s expansion strategy, the staff from local engineering specialist Page Engineering have joined Magor in a deal which sees key team members joining the Magor workforce at the Resolven site.

McConnell continues; “We have known and respected Page Engineering for a long time as both competitor and trusted sub contract partner.  It is very timely and logical that the guys join the Magor Team to help underpin our expanding order book and growing customer base”.  Former PAGE customers will bring a six figure turnover to Magor, generated from a selection of clients in the automotive, lighting and aerospace sectors.

McConnell commented; “We’re looking forward to welcoming Page’s team members including founder John Turner, who has taken on the role of Commercial Engineer, whilst toolmaker David Griffin and apprentice Joseph Turner are also with us.  They bring an extensive skills base and experience and will complement our current workforce.  Current owner, Robert Dunbar is looking forward to a well-earned retirement.”
